One teenage boy was found dead just days following being wrongly accused of stealing the ashes of a dead baby during a break-in, an inquest has heard.
The young boy's parents discovered his body in his room at his Connah's Quay residence on November 19th, 2021.
The investigation learned how his mother got a message on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a individual asking if her son was her child. The message stated: "Tell him appreciation for breaking into my apartment."
In a testimony presented to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the woman had been in the media, asserting her infant's ashes had been stolen in a break-in - a allegation which was untrue.
An investigation report from police later determined the alleged burglary victim had "provided false information" and "it now appears that the items was never taken in the beginning".
News coverage about the alleged stolen ashes attracted online responses, and although Kai was not identified in the posts, his mother said individuals "knew it was him".
The "social media content were really upsetting", she said.
She added that Kai had been identified with moderate ADHD, and as part of that condition, other peoples' views genuinely were important to him.
"This must have hurt him deeply," she commented, "especially when this was not true".
The teenager was arrested at his residence, but nothing was found. He was transported to a police station and later released under investigation.
Authorities said they would be in contact, the hearing learned, but had not reached out to the relatives by the time of his death.
His parent said Kai "withdrew into himself" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the authorities", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could feel like days".
When she talked to him about the supposed incident, she said her son informed her he had gone into the house because the resident who lived there had said he could utilize the toilet whenever he needed, but refuted taking anything.
In a combined testimony between her and her husband, the mother said her child was being harassed online after the accusations.
The inquest heard that a young adult encouraged the teenager to kill himself.
She had no concerns on the night before he died, describing how she had heard him "laughing and teasing".
She described him as a "compassionate, affectionate" boy, and said her "family is totally shattered".
He had been "obviously hiding his concerns", she said, noting that he could not stand to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".
The inquest received testimony from educational personnel at Connah's Quay High School.
On November 8th, she "overheard some boys discussing that the student had been arrested and that was the first I learned".
"He told me... he'd was innocent," she added.
After the discussion, the educator said she rang Kai's family landline and provided a message saying she had spoken to the student about the accusations.
The proceedings heard his parents said they did not receive that message.
Senior coroner informed the hearing he would await reports regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with individuals with the condition, before determining whether he should make a prevention of subsequent deaths report.
Delivering a narrative finding, he stated: "Approximately November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against the teenager, a young child.
"Likely falsehoods were afterwards exaggerated and exaggerated through the platform of online networks.
"During November 11th, he was questioned by the authorities and following his questioning he was released whilst investigations proceeded."
The official concluded: "There is no evidence that the actions or failures of any organization led to or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a personal action it is impossible to determine his intent."
