The world's favorite pizza-loving superheroes are arriving to the popular trading card game. The popular TCG's company, the game's creators, unveiled a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special panel hosted at New York Comic Con. Could this be a radical new set or yet another Universes Beyond marketing move? Let you be the judge.
Check out below at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful context. All items listed here launches on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — a special Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27.
Before we get into the many special decks and collections available, we’ll examine at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by the developers. Standard booster packs for the set are priced at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.
Let’s explore a few surprising features. First, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu, where gamers can cheat powerful creatures onto the game field when an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference here is that this new ability can apply to spells that aren’t creatures too. The designers also took the opportunity to clean up the mechanic a bit (Sneak is treated as playing a spell, unlike the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter the new mechanic in upcoming expansions from now on.
Should we were to return to Kamigawa, we might use the original ability because that plane is it was developed and it is iconic to that,” a senior designer explained. “However in other settings, since the rules are cleaner and the new ability is what's going to be Standard-legal, it's more likely we’ll use Sneak.”
Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four cards with special art created specifically for the expansion by TMNT co-creator the co-creator.
Additionally, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play game cards that aren't in your deck, so was I. Yet as per the developers, that's now a legal card in every format of Magic.
Anyway, below are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from the TMNT set:
Following the company’s current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers state they were careful to make sure the new cards and mechanics worked smoothly with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.
“I led the design for 15 months and we knew it was going to be in standard and which sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer commented. “We designed to make sure that they work well with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype focused on artifact cards.
“They combine to offer the components for a fun Standard deck,” the designer says.
Following a decision to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, Wizards is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it includes six distinct legendary creatures that can serve as your commander depending on how you combine them (five of the cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command area rather than just one). Take a look for yourself:
This Commander deck is set at $69.99, although the price may rise based on demand. Sources indicated that it includes 43 brand-new cards altogether, which translates to an extra 37 TMNT-themed cards in addition to the six legendary creatures shown earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we assume the deck includes 37 land cards.)
How will the TMNT version of the iconic Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and find out.
Typically, the company is selling a collection. This one costs $69.99 and includes the following:
This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it is packaged in a box resembling a pizza box. Every pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and includes the items below:
If you’re wondering about the “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s essentially a reprint of an older card featuring all-new TMNT artwork. Wizards showed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter adding toppings onto a pizza. In total, there are six different Pizza Bundle promo cards in total.
The Pizza Bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
This special bundle is made for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:
Finally, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to develop Magic products aimed at beginners. In this case, the cooperative set is a unique product of decks that allow two players team up against a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The general idea is that every Boss card grants unique powers to the creature cards included in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card each turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
